Let me confess: I often hand over my iPad or Sony PlayStation Vita to my son to play games, watch videos and movies, listen to music or use some kid-friendly apps I installed for him. My gadgets often babysit and tutor my kids when I am busy. Well, I often wonder if gadgets are diminishing the need for human interactions with kids!
Are gadgets replacing human interactions?
Well I am not alone, many moms and dads are using smartphone and tablets as inevitable parenting tools so they can finish their work, sit sometime alone, or to calm persistent nagging of kids. Modern moms are downloading educational apps, games, videos, apps that foster creativity and reading in kids. Screen time for kids are rampantly expanding with parents’ and school teachers’ dependence on gadgets for engaging and tutoring kids. However, we need to figure out how much screen time is right for kids and contribute to their development.
